Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Afridi bowled killer against India in Asia Cup 2023 on Saturday. He conceded only 35 runs in 10 overs and took 4 wickets. Shahin dealt India two major blows in the form of Rohit Sharma (11) and Virat Kohli (4) till the seventh over, from which the team could not recover for long. Team India was struggling at one point losing 4 wickets for 66 runs. However, Ishan Kishan (81) and Hardik Pandya (87) saved the team from an early disintegration by putting on 138 runs for the fifth wicket. The Indian innings was limited to 266 runs in 48.5 overs.

All 10 wickets of Pakistan were taken by its fast bowlers. Shahin took four wickets, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf took three wickets each. After the brilliant performance by the Pakistani fast bowlers, Shaheen said that his team’s plan was a success. “This was our plan with the new ball,” Shaheen said after the end of the Indian innings. I think both (Virat and Rohit) were important wickets. Every batsman is equal to me. However, I liked Rohit’s wicket better. Our fast bowlers’ plan worked.

Naseem also praised Naseem Shah. He said, “Naseem is bowling at 150 kmph, which I am really happy with. It’s really fast. The new ball can swing and seam here but nothing special after that. Once the ball gets old, it becomes easier to score runs (in the run chase). Notably, Pakistan’s innings could not get started and the match was abandoned due to continuous rain. Both the teams shared the points. This was India’s first match while the Pakistan team played for the second time in the ongoing tournament. Pakistan has reached the Super Four. Meanwhile, India are scheduled to face Nepal on Monday.
