ICC T20 World Cup 2024 India vs USA: Team India’s unbeaten campaign in ICC T20 World Cup 2024 continues. India booked their place in the Super-8 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 after registering their third consecutive win. India became the first team from Group A to book Super 8 ticket. Why the five run penalty?
The biggest turning point of the match was that Team India had to get these five runs on penalties. India lost the wickets of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant for 39 runs. Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dubey also struggled to score a run each, with India receiving a five-run penalty after the end of the 15th over and before the start of the 16th over. Where India needed 35 runs from 30 balls, the equation changed and now India needed 30 runs from 30 balls. The body language of the American bowlers and fielders also got a little weak after the penalty runs and after this Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dubey played some good shots and turned the match completely in favor of India. In fact, America lost five runs due to penalties as they delayed starting the over three times. A maximum of 60 seconds i.e. one minute can be taken between two overs. America repeated this mistake three times and suffered the consequences.

Siraj’s match changing catch
Nitish Kumar of Indian origin played an innings of 27 runs off 23 balls for America. Nitish hit four fours and one six during his innings. Nitish looked in very strong touch, but Mohammad Siraj took a catch on the boundary line off the fourth ball of the 15th over, putting America on the backfoot. Nitish pulls a short ball from Arshdeep Singh, Siraj takes a Superman-like catch on the boundary line and thus Nitish has to return to the pavilion. For this catch, it looks like Siraj will also get the fielder of the match medal for this match.

Surya catches the drop
Van Schaalwijk was bowling the 13th over and Suryakumar Yadav was on strike on the fourth ball of the over. Surya could not time the shot perfectly and the ball went in the air. Saurabh Netrawalkar could not take this catch and with this drop catch it looked as if Team India got a lease of life with Suryakumar Yadav. At that time Suryakumar Yadav was playing on 22 runs and India’s score was 58 runs for three wickets.
