New Delhi. Indian women’s cricket team defeated South Africa by 4 runs. With this win, hosts India have taken an unbeaten 2-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series. South Africa needed 11 runs to win from the last over. Captains Laura Walvert and De Klerk were present at the crease. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur handed over the bowling responsibility to Pooja Vastrakar in a moment of pressure. Pooja bowled superbly and took two consecutive wickets to spoil South Africa’s plans for victory. He took 2 wickets for 6 runs in the last over to give India victory. This was one of the most thrilling matches in women’s cricket.

Chasing the target of 326 runs set by India, South Africa (IND w vs SA w) team could only score 321 runs for 6 wickets. Laura Volward scored the highest 135 runs from her side. Laura hit 12 fours and 3 sixes in his captaincy innings. Apart from this, middle-order batsman Marijan Kapp played an innings of 114 runs off 94 balls which included 11 fours and 3 sixes.

The thrill of the last over
South Africa needed 11 runs to win from the last over. Pooja Vastrakar bowled the last over of the match for India. On the first ball of the over, Laura Walvert took a run and gave De Klerk a strike. Clarke hits a four off the second ball. After this, South Africa needed 6 runs from 4 balls. On the third ball Pooja sent de Klerk to the pavilion while on the fourth ball she had Shangase caught by Harmanpreet Kaur. Mike de Ryder runs in and takes a run off the fifth ball. Laura did not score a single run off the sixth ball and thus India managed to win the thrilling match.

Century of Mandhana and Harampreet
Earlier, India scored 325 runs for 3 wickets on the basis of Smriti Mandhana and Captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s century innings. Vice captain Mandhana played an innings of 136 runs off 120 balls. He hit 18 fours and 2 fours. Harampreet Kaur played an unbeaten innings of 103 runs off 88 balls. Richa Ghosh scored an unbeaten 25 off 13 balls. Shefali Verma was dismissed after scoring 20 runs. Mandhana scored the seventh century of her ODI career, while it was the sixth century of Harmanpreet Kaur’s ODI career.
