India break world record against South Africa, Shefali’s double century

New Delhi. The Indian cricket team will play in the ICC T20 World Cup final tonight. Earlier, the women’s cricket team set a world record in the only Test match being played. Opener Shefali Verma’s double century and Smriti Mandhana’s innings of 149 runs set the highest score in women’s Test history. Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored 603 runs for 6 wickets and declared the first innings against South Africa.

The Indian women’s team, who came to play the only Test match against South Africa, showed a great game. Indian openers Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana shared a record breaking partnership for the first wicket and laid the foundation for the team’s big score. Shefali was dismissed for 205 off 197 balls while Mandhana scored 149 off 161 balls. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored 69 runs and Richa Ghosh scored 86 runs. India broke the record for the highest score in women’s Test history.
