Indian core squad for T20 World Cup finalized ahead of IPL, Rohit Sharma reveals full planning

Indian captain Rohit Sharma said during a press conference in Mumbai on Thursday that the IPL did not play much of a role in selecting the 15 players for the T20 World Cup. He said that the selection committee and the leadership group had decided on the core group before the IPL. According to Rohit, there were some positions to be decided during the IPL and he is happy with the 15-man squad selection.

“Look, I think we’ve played a lot of ICC tournaments recently… …we’re lucky that we had the Asia Cup before the 50-over World Cup,” Rohit Sharma said at a press conference on Thursday. He did not have a match before the World Test Champions final last year. We entered the finals directly from the IPL. As Ajith said, we started talking about what the combination would be like.

He continued, “We build a playing XI in our mind and try to work around it. There is a lot of preparation, talk going on during the IPL and many of these guys have been playing in this format for quite some time. He said that 70 to 80 percent of the squad is already decided before the IPL. He said, “You think accordingly with the playing eleven in mind. Talks of final 15 started before IPL.
