IPL 2024 has reached its final stage and the champion will be decided in few days. The Indian team players were also among the teams that were out of the ongoing season of IPL, who are now going to start preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Most of India’s cricketers and support staff will leave for New York on May 25 for the T20 World Cup in West Indies and America, while the rest will leave after the IPL final on May 26.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma said in a conversation with Geo Cinemas on Friday that the players will get a lot of time to adapt to the conditions there. However, it will be a bit difficult for those who will join the team after playing the finals. Earlier, the members of the teams that failed to qualify for the IPL playoffs were to leave on May 21 but later the plan changed. Now they will leave on 25th May.

“Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, Suryakumar Yadav, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah and support staff will leave on May 25,” a BCCI source told PTI. In the T20 World Cup, India is scheduled to play its first match against Ireland on June 5 and Pakistan on June 9.

“The first group was supposed to leave on May 21 but the Indian team is playing the only practice match (against Bangladesh on June 1), so the players will get some extra time at home,” he said.

The Indian captain also said on Friday that 70 per cent of the T20 World Cup squad was decided before the IPL. Rohit had said the same in a press conference a few days after the team was announced.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma said that there are ups and downs in performances in IPL. We didn’t focus too much on it. Even before this IPL season, 70 percent of the players in the World Cup squad knew their roles.
