The three-match ODI series between India and South Africa concluded on Sunday. India had a clean sweep in the series. India beat South Africa by 6 wickets in the last match. South Africa was given a target of 216 runs. Smriti Mandhana’s (90 off 83 balls, 11 fours) brilliant innings helped Team India win easily in 40.4 overs. Mandhana was awarded Player of the Series. Opener Mandhana was in superb form throughout the series. A total of 343 runs came from his bat. He scored centuries in the first and second ODIs.
Apart from Mandhana, no one has crossed the 200 mark in this series. After that, South African captain Laura Walward scored more runs. Volward scored 200 runs in three innings including a century. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur was at number three. He scored 155 runs. After receiving the Player of the Series award, Mandhana said it was unfortunate to miss out on a century in the third ODI. At the same time, all-rounder Deepti Sharma also had a tough time. Deepti won the player of the match award in the third ODI. He took two wickets for just 27 runs in a spell of 10 overs. Deepti said after the match, “Enjoyed bowling today and executed our plans perfectly. I always back up my stock ball and am prepared for all kinds of situations. I am trying to understand the situation considering the pitch. Let me tell you that Deepti took the most wickets in the series with 6 wickets. Asha Shobhana and Pooja Vastrakar took four wickets each. Deepti also played an important innings of 37 runs in the first match.
