The IPL 2024 league stage concluded on Sunday night with the Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders match. The match, held in Guwahati, was abandoned due to rain and the two teams shared 1-1 points. With this match, the picture of IPL 2024 playoffs has also become clear. Sunrisers Hyderabad finished in the top-2 with two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders. While Rajasthan Royals and Royals Challengers Bangalore finished third and fourth respectively in the league stage. The first qualifier between KKR and SRH will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, May 21. On Wednesday, May 22, an eliminator match between RR and RCB will be played at the same ground. The team that wins the first qualifier will get a direct ticket to the final, while the losing team will face the winner of the eliminator match in the second qualifier. Both these matches will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
All three teams will regret not making the playoffs
The IPL 2024 points table had a total of four teams fighting for the playoffs till the end. Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, these four teams had 14 points each, but only RCB got the ticket for the playoffs due to better net run rate. The remaining three teams will be regretting why they couldn’t focus on net run rate from the start of the season. If any of these teams had a better net run rate, they would have qualified instead of RCB. After the last match of the league stage, RCB’s net run rate was +0.459, Chennai Super Kings’ +0.392, Delhi Capitals’ -0.377 and Lucknow Super Giants’ -0.667.

Mumbai became the worst team of IPL 2024
5-time champions Mumbai Indians became the worst team of IPL 2024. Out of 14 matches played in the league stage, MI managed to win only 4 matches while losing 10 matches. Mumbai were the only team in the tournament that could not even reach double figures in the points table. MI had a total of 8 points to their account. While Punjab Kings are at the 9th position with 10 points, Gujarat Titans are at the 8th position with 12 points.
