New Delhi. As IPL 2024 progresses and the T20 World Cup approaches, a debate has started. This debate is country first or club or country first or league cricket. The debate started with Mustafizur Rahman’s return to Bangladesh. But there was a turning point when there was news of England players leaving IPL and returning home.

Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman plays for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. He played a match for CSK on May 1, but will now be seen in the IPL next season. Reason- Mustafizur Rahman has returned home to join his national team for the T20 series against Zimbabwe. The series is part of the preparations for the T20 World Cup.

Along with announcing the squad for the T20 World Cup, England has made it clear that the players involved will have to participate in the proposed T20 series with Pakistan. The T20 series is to be played between England and Pakistan from May 22. This means that cricketers like Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Phil Salt, Liam Livingstone will not play in the playoff round of IPL.

It is clear that the decision of either England or Bangladesh has been taken in the interest of their national team, so that they can prepare better for the T20 World Cup. On the other hand recently T20 series was played between Pakistan and New Zealand. In this, New Zealand had to drop its ‘B’ field as most of its key players are playing in the IPL.

As for the Indian team, the BCCI has made it clear that most of the cricketers will leave for the West Indies on May 21. But these will be the cricketers whose team will not make it to the IPL playoffs. It has not yet been clarified whether the Indian players who make it to the IPL playoffs will later go to Australia. But last season, whenever Australia had an important series, it asked its cricketers to quit the IPL midway through. So, it is possible that leading cricketers like David Warner, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins will not be seen in the playoff round of IPL.
