IPL turning point: Maxwell is RCB’s biggest ‘villain’, dropped catch after golden duck, scores 52 in 10 matches

New Delhi. Royal Challengers Bangalore are out of the title race after losing the IPL eliminator match. It would be wrong to blame any one RCB player for the defeat against Rajasthan Royals. But if one has to say which player has disappointed the most, the first name that comes up is Glenn Maxwell. Be it batting or fielding, whenever Maxwell got a chance, he lost it with both hands.

Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 172 runs for 8 wickets against Rajasthan Royals. Rajat Patidar scored 174, Virat Kohli scored 33 and Mahipal Lomror scored 32 for RCB. Cameron Green scored 27 runs, Faf du Plessis scored 17, Dinesh Karthik scored 11 and Karn Sharma scored 5 runs. But not a single run came from Glenn Maxwell’s bat.

Glenn became the victim of the Golden Duck for the fourth time
When Glenn Maxwell came in to bat, RCB were 97 for 3 in 12.3 overs. If Maxwell had played as expected, RCB could have made a bigger score of 190. But Maxwell was perhaps too hasty. As soon as he came in, he tried to hit a six on the first ball and lost the wicket. RCB’s score suddenly changed from 97 for 2 to 97 for 4. This was the fourth time in the season that Glenn Maxwell returned to the pavilion for 0 runs.

Maxwell dropped an easy catch
When Glenn Maxwell got a chance to contribute to the team while fielding, he again disappointed. He dropped a simple catch to Tom Kohler-Cadmore off Yash Dayal. He was on 11 when Maxwell dropped Cadmore’s catch and Rajasthan were 35 for no loss in 4 overs.

52 runs in 10 matches
Not just this match but the entire tournament was disappointing for Glenn Maxwell. He played 10 matches in IPL 2024 and managed to score only 52 runs at an average of 5.77. His highest score was 28 runs. If this one innings is removed, Maxwell scored 24 runs in 9 innings.
