Tuesday is the second day of the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha. Even today MPs are being sworn in. Samajwadi Party MP Iqra Hasan also took oath as MP from Kaira Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh today. Iqra Chaudhary is the younger sister of Nahid Hasan, who is the Samajwadi Party’s third consecutive MLA from Kairana.
Iqra Hasan belongs to the influential Hasan family of Muzaffarnagar. His grandfather, father and mother have been MPs. While the elder brother Naheed Hasan became MLA for the third time in a row. Ikra is known for her quick wit and presence of mind.

Ikra had filed his candidature from Kaira seat on SP ticket in 2024. In the affidavit, she identified herself as a farmer’s daughter. He says that after Ikra’s death, the politics of UP changed and communal issues became the biggest issue in the elections.
