The Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI had removed wicketkeepers Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer from their central contracts within a few months. However, now BCCI has decided to give these players another chance soon. This is the reason why these two players have been called for the camp that will start at the National Cricket Academy i.e. NCA in Bengaluru. This move by BCCI has given these players a chance to make a comeback in the Indian jersey. In a way, this is a lifeline for these players.
In fact, the Indian team will be seen playing in the T20 World Cup in USA and West Indies in June. A team of 15 members has been selected for this, but what will the rest of the players do? This was a question, but BCCI has found a solution. The BCCI has decided to organize a high performance event at the NCA, inviting around two dozen players. Most of these will be players who have recently played for India and managed to perform well in IPL 2024.
Ahead of the 2024-25 domestic season, the BCCI has called up around two dozen players under the NCA’s High Performance Monitoring Program under the leadership of VVS Laxman. “The BCCI has no complaints against Iyer and Kishan. This is an opportunity for them to show their commitment to domestic cricket,” a source told The Times of India. A good performance in the upcoming domestic tournament could see him regain his central contract and potentially return to the Indian team. IPL performance doesn’t matter much.
These players will be included in the NCA camp
Shreyas Iyer, Ishaan Kishan, Khalil Ahmed, Tusshar Deshpande, Umran Malik, Avesh Khan, Kuldeep Sen, Mayank Yadav, Mushir Khan, Ryan Parag, Ashutosh Sharma, Sai Sudarshan, Devdutt Padikal, Sai Kishore and Prithvi Shaw also appeared before the selectors. . There will be an opportunity to perform. Apart from this, Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian will also be a part of the camp. Some other players can also be a part of this camp.
