Suryakumar Yadav on David Miller catch: Suryakumar Yadav termed the brilliant catch that decided the course of the T20 World Cup final against South Africa as God’s plan on Monday. Suryakumar showed a brilliant example of awareness and concentration and almost ensured the team’s victory by taking a wonderful relay catch of David Miller at the long off boundary. India has won the T20 World Cup after 17 years. India previously won this tournament in 2007.
Suryakumar, however, in a brief conversation with ‘PTI-Bhasha’ over the phone did not overplay his role in the title win. Led by Rohit Sharma, the Indian team defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final played in Barbados on Saturday. When Suryakumar Yadav was asked if that catch was one of the most important moments of the match, he said, “I am grateful to have done something special for the country in that moment. It was God’s plan.”
Suryakumar’s catch reminded many of the 1983 ODI. World Cup Reminds me of Kapil Dev’s catch off Madan Lal which got the great Vivian Richard out. South Africa needed 16 runs from the last over and the dangerous David Miller Hardik Pandya Key hits a big shot towards long off on a full toss but Suryakumar catches the ball near the boundary, leaves it outside the boundary line and then comes back and takes a brilliant catch.
Talking about the catch, India’s fielding coach T Dilip told a PTI video, “When that happens, judgment and awareness are very important. Having the confidence to know that he can come back and catch the ball after the throw, it’s at that point “The Indian team is currently stuck in Bridgetown due to the storm. Air service has been completely stopped due to this storm.
