S Jaishankar was born on 9 January 1955 in Delhi. His father K Subramaniam was in the civil service and his mother was a teacher. After graduating in Chemistry from Stephen’s College, Delhi, he did an MA in Political Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University followed by an MPhil and PhD in International Relations.

After retirement, Jaishankar started working as the President of Global Corporate Affairs of Tata Sons. However, after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi called him and assigned him the responsibility of the country’s foreign minister.

This is how the first meeting with PM Modi took place

Narendra Modi went to China in 2011 when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Jaishankar and Modi met there for the first time. At that time, Jaishankar was the Ambassador of India to China. After becoming the Prime Minister in 2014, Narendra Modi went to America. Jaishankar was India’s ambassador to America at that time and is also credited with masterminding the grand scheme of events held at Madison Square.

The country’s second diplomat to become Foreign Minister

Jaishankar is also very popular among common people. In such a situation, it is certain that PM Modi will express confidence in him for the third time. Jaishankar is a Rajya Sabha MP. Jaishankar also served as the country’s foreign secretary between January 2015 and January 2018. After Natwar Singh, Jaishankar is the second diplomat to take oath as the Foreign Minister of India.

During the Indo-Ukraine war, there was a lot of pressure for his decision to buy cheap crude oil from Russia, to which Jaishankar responded very boldly. At the same time, reaching a consensus on a joint manifesto during the G-20 was also a major victory for them.
