Javed Akhtar wrote this song in 5 minutes, RD Burman composed it in 5 seconds, becoming the most romantic song of the century.

New Delhi. Despite being the 21st century, kids today love rap and hip hop songs. But, not only the movies of the 70s-80s-90s but also the songs are loved even today. Just like writing a film has a story behind it, film songs also have interesting stories. How many songs there will be in the film, in which situations who will sing and how those songs will be filmed, all this is decided after the story of the film. Did you know that the most romantic song of the century was written by Javed Akhtar in 5 minutes, composed by RD Burman in 5 seconds. The song is none other than ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To…’ but there is an amazing story behind this song. What Farah Khan has said.

Farah Khan revolutionized choreography in Bollywood and gave us the most memorable hook steps in songs like ‘You’re My Sonia’, ‘It’s the Time to Disco’, ‘Ek Pal Ka Jeena’ and many more. Choreographer and director Farha Khan recently expressed her love for legendary composer RD Burman.

RD Burman’s music is influenced by ‘Main Hoon Na’.
After hearing ‘Dum Maro Dum’, he fell in love with her music. He said that his love for the great composer influenced his music for the film ‘Main Hoon Na’. In a conversation with Radio Nasha, he opened up about RD Burman’s music. Farah said that I was excited when I came to know that RD Burman was composing the music for my second film ‘1942: A Love Story’. I used to spoon into music recordings and attend every session. For me, it was like watching the God of Music.

Javed Akhtar forgot to write the song
Meanwhile, he shared an interesting anecdote about the making of the film ‘1942: A Love Story’, for which Burman was composing the music and Javed Akhar was penning the lyrics. He said he remembers the making of the song ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga’. Farah said that during a music meeting with director Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who plays an assistant role in the film, lyricist Javed Akhtar arrived unprepared.

When Javed Akhtar reached the meeting with a blank paper
Farah further said that Javed uncle came in with a blank paper. He did not write anything. He had forgotten. He mostly didn’t do his homework. He said, ‘Okay, tell me again.’ It was described as the sequence where Anil Kapoor’s character sees Manisha Koirala for the first time and falls in love with her. He called his assistant and instructed, ‘Okay, start writing’ and Javed Kaka began to speak, ‘When I saw a girl I felt like a blooming rose, like a poet’s dream, like a deer in a bun.’ He wrote five more similar lines. We chose the best lines and he immediately handed over a piece of paper and said, ‘Here’s the song’.

These are the lyrics of the song
Yeah oh… that’s what I felt when I saw a girl
When I saw a girl I felt like
Like a blooming rose
A poet’s dream, like
Bright rays, viz
Deer in a bun, like
Moonlit night, as
Soft talk, viz
There must be a burning lamp in the temple, yes!
Oh… that’s how I felt when I saw a girl!
Yes, that’s what I felt when I saw a girl
When I saw a girl I felt like
morning form, viz
Sunlight in winter, viz
The notes of the harp, viz
A life of colors, viz
Balkhaye Bell, as
A game of waves, viz
Bring the cool breeze!
Oh… that’s what I felt when I saw a girl!
Yes, that’s what I felt when I saw a girl
When I saw a girl I felt like
Like a dancing peacock
Silk thread, viz
A fairy tale, like
Sandalwood fire, viz
Sixteen decorations, viz
Juice squirt, like
Slowly growing drunk, ho!
Oh… that’s how I felt when I saw a girl!
It felt like seeing a girl!

Vidhu Vinod Chopra also narrated the story
The track went on to become one of the most iconic romantic numbers in Bollywood, but director Vidhu Vinod Chopra recently revealed that the track would not have been included in the album if not for Javed. Vidhu Vinod Chopra also spoke about this during the promotion of Sonam Kapoor’s film ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga’. He also said about the song making process that the song is ready in five to six minutes.
