Bridgetown. In their last match of the Super 8 of the ICC T20 World Cup, the England team put up a brilliant performance and won over America and secured their ticket to the semi-finals. England captain Jos Buttler revealed the secret behind this innings as he played a storming innings to take the team to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. He showed speed while chasing a target of 116 runs to help the team to top Group 2 of the Super Eight.
After Chris Jordan’s hat-trick, Buttler’s explosive innings saw England beat America by 10 wickets to enter the semi-finals. Buttler said after the match, “We respect America and we talked about if we bat fast, we will do very well. After playing a few overs, we tried to hit quick shots in the air.
Buttler praised the bowling efforts of leg-spinner Adil Rashid (two wickets for 13 runs) and Liam Livingstone (one wicket for 24 runs). He said, “Adil bowled brilliantly. Livy also bowled well together. When you’re not bowling in a match and then all of a sudden you have to bowl four overs, it’s tough, so give him credit for being prepared.
The England captain also praised the returning Jordan’s bowling. The bowler took four wickets in five balls including a hat-trick in the 19th over to dismiss the American tail-enders. Due to this brilliant bowling, England bowled out the American team for 115 runs in 18.5 overs. “We had better options,” he said. We included Jordan to add depth to our batting and his hat-trick in the World Cup is a great effort.
