Narine was given a lifeline twice due to missed catches in the span of two balls. After this, he hit five fours in five balls to set the tone for KKR’s innings. First, he hit consecutive fours off Naveen Ul Haq off the last two balls of the third over. After this he hit three consecutive fours off Mohsin Khan in the fourth over. Narine and Phil Salt (32 runs) gave the two-time champions an explosive start as expected. Both had a quick partnership of 61 runs. But Naveen Ul Haq broke this partnership by sending Salt to the pavilion.

Yash Thakur gave only 2 runs in the last over of Powerplay.
Medium pacer Yash Thakur controlled the run rate and conceded just two runs in the last over of the powerplay. Because of this, KKR’s score became 70 runs for one wicket in six overs. Narine continued to score runs in his familiar style and completed his half-century in 27 balls. He hit three fours off Marcus Stoinis in the 11th over. But Ravi Bishnoi finally managed to end Narine’s innings in the third attempt, off which the all-rounder had missed the catch twice earlier.
