India on Tuesday offered cooperation to member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in enhancing their legal and judicial capacity. The 10th meeting of the Law and Justice Ministers of the SCO Member States was held through video conference on Tuesday. According to a Law Ministry statement, the meeting began in a cordial atmosphere with the reading of a message from Chinese President Xi Jinping. According to the statement, President Xi Jinping in his message urged member countries to work in a spirit of cooperation and understanding to realize the objectives of the SCO and enhance its contribution to the overall development of the region.

On the occasion, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal emphasized India’s commitment to SCO’s Charter and principles of mutual trust, sovereignty and territorial integrity and mutual benefit. According to the statement, Meghwal said the commitment is based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision that “India has emerged as a friend of the world and India’s greatest strength is faith, our faith in every individual, every one’s faith in the government, everyone’s faith in the bright future of India and World’s Faith in India This belief is about our policies and practices.
He said, “Legal institutions and processes in a country have to adapt to the changing realities of any society. Keeping this in mind, the government has taken steps by making some far-reaching changes in its legal and judicial system. Cooperation was underlined.
