Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Rinku Singh on Sunday expressed his hope that the Indian team will lift the World Cup trophy after registering victory in the IPL 2024 final. KKR beat Risers Hyderabad by eight wickets to become IPL champions for the third time. KKR batsmen performed brilliantly throughout the session. However, left-handed batsman Rinku Singh did not get many opportunities to play long innings in the middle order. He scored 168 runs in 11 innings at a brilliant strike rate of 148.67.
Rinku told Jio Cinemas, “From here I will first go to Noida and then to America. You guys see, me World Cup I will also lift the trophy.” He, along with Shubman Gill, is among the four players who will tour with the Indian team as reserves for the T20 World Cup 2024. When asked about KKR’s performance this season, Rinku gave credit to the entire team. He also praised team mentor Gautam Gambhir, who returned to the team after seven years.
“You can’t just give credit to one person because everyone worked hard,” Rinku said. Ever since GG (Gautam Gambhir) Sir has come, a lot has changed. Sunil Narine was asked to open the innings and he batted very well and the batsmen bowled well. Venky (Venkatesh Iyer) batted really well in the last five-six matches. Overall, everyone has done really well.
After a brilliant performance by the bowlers, KKR won the title by defeating Hyderabad in a one-sided final thanks to Venkatesh Iyer’s unbeaten half-century. KKR won the IPL trophy in 2012 and 2014 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir. Now Gambhir, a master strategist, led KKR to its third trophy. KKR is the team that has won the most IPL titles after Chennai Super Kings (five) and Mumbai Indians (five).
