President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday said many historic measures and major economic decisions will be taken in the upcoming general budget, which will be the first full budget of the Narendra Modi government’s third term.

President Draupadi Murmu in her address to the joint sitting of both houses for the first time in the 18th Lok Sabha said that the budget to be presented by the government in the next Parliament session will be presented with a future-oriented perspective.

He said, “Major economic and social decisions will be taken in the budget and many historic measures will be taken… The pace of reforms will be accelerated to meet the aspirations of the people of the country…”

The President said that the Central Government believes that there should be healthy competition among the States for investment. He said there should be a spirit of competitive cooperative federalism.

He said that India has become the fifth largest economy in the world and has grown at an average of 8 percent in the last 10 years, though this was not a normal period.

President Draupadi Murmu said, “This growth rate has been achieved amidst global pandemics and conflicts in different parts of the world… It is the result of reforms undertaken in the last 10 years… India alone has contributed 15 per cent of the global growth.” Contributed… My government is working to make India the third largest economy in the world…”
