Read on the application

There is good news for MBBS students. 50 seats of MBBS will be increased in Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College. NMC has given this assurance to the college administration. Admission to 150 MBBS seats is expected from the new session in the medical college. Currently there are 100 seats here. Principal Dr. R.C. Gupta said that the increase in MBBS seats by 50 is a big achievement not only for Meerut but for western UP. Now the college administration is trying to increase 50 more seats to 200 seats. Continuous efforts are going on for this. Let us tell you that NMC itself monitors the quality of medical education in the country.

In 2013 there were 150 seats

Earlier there were 100 MBBS seats in the medical college. This number was increased to 150 in the year 2013. In 2019, 50 MBBS seats were reduced here due to non-meeting of National Medical Council (NMC) norms and low number of patients in terms of beds. Since then 100 seats were left. Since then the college administration has been continuously trying to increase the seats.

It was expected that not only the old 50 MBBS seats would return but 50 more seats could also be increased. For this, continuous efforts were made to meet NMC norms. But every time the shortage of faculty became a hurdle in not increasing the seats. Principal Dr. R.C. Gupta’s efforts paid off and the NMC assured to increase MBBS seats by 50 seats in a video conference on Tuesday. National Medical Commission has prepared a new draft for new medical colleges. New colleges will be recognized where there is a population of 10 lakhs. The mandatory distance between the two colleges is 15 km.
