MBBS: FMGE paper is, exam for medical license in India also leaked, police registered FIR

Kerala Police has registered an FIR in connection with advertisement of sale of question paper of Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE 2024) on social media platform. Messages about selling the FMGE question paper and its answer keys were going viral on social media, following which the police registered a case. The FMGE exam is scheduled to be held across the country on July 6. Let us tell you that students doing MBBS from abroad get license to practice medicine in India through FMGE exam. The National Board of Examinations, which conducts NEET PG, also conducts this exam.

The city cyber crime police in Thiruvananthapuram have registered a case against groups who advertised the sale of question papers for the FMGE exam to be held on July 6 on social media platform Telegram, a state police spokesperson said. The spokesperson said in a statement that the case has been registered under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Improper Means) Act, 2024, which is the first case of its kind in the state to be registered under the Act.

As part of efforts to detect such frauds, the cyber department of the police has started round-the-clock monitoring of various social media platforms, including Telegram channels.

Clearing the FMGE exam is extremely challenging. Its results average between 10 to 30 percent. The FMGE exam consists of one paper consisting of 300 multiple choice questions. The paper will be given in two parts on the same day and each part will have 150 questions, to be solved in 150 minutes. It is mandatory for foreign medical graduates to appear in the FMGE/NEXT examination within 10 years of completing their course. If a person has done MBBS from abroad and wants to get medical license in India, he/she has to appear in FMGE/next exam within 10 years of completing his MBBS degree. FMGE exam is conducted twice in a year.
