MBBS students of Dhanbad Medical College and doctors here do not get to read medical journals. No purchases are ever made in the library of this medical college. While as per National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines, all medical colleges have to buy medical journals compulsorily. Let us tell you that the medical college library should have medical journals along with medical related books. A large number of medical related books are purchased in Dhanbad Medical College. But officials are not interested in buying the journal. Old journals purchased by doctors are called for and kept in the library to be shown during NMC visits. Due to this jugaad this medical college has managed to get 100 MBBS and PG seats. As to why the journal is not being purchased, officials say that sufficient funds are not available for it. According to doctors, medical journals are the best tool to keep abreast of new developments in the medical field. It is different for different subjects. Provides information on new treatment techniques and methods.

Books are sent to other colleges
The abundance of books can be estimated from the fact that books have been sent from here to the newly started medical colleges of the state. MBBS students there are reading the book here. But this prosperity of the medical college disappears in the purchase of the journal.

Study online
As the journal is not available in the medical college library, students and doctors study it online as per their need. According to doctors online is only one option. A physical journal is more convenient and easier to teach, understand and explain.

There should be 18 types of journals.
According to doctors, as per NMC guidelines, the library of any medical college with 100 seats should have at least 18 types of medical journals. It should be purchased every year. But it is not bought here.

Plenty of books in the library
The library of this medical college without medical journal is very rich in terms of medical books. Normally a medical college with 100 MBBS seats should have about 2000 books in its library. Its number is more than 1600.
