MBBS: NMC provides relaxation in internship to MBBS pursuers from abroad

The National Medical Commission has revised its circular asking foreign medical graduates to undergo a 12-month internship. The commission has now reduced the internship period to one year. But there are some conditions for this. In the notice, the NMC said that all foreign students who have taken compensatory classes in physical mode and cleared an exam equivalent to MBBS in India are eligible for the one-year internship. There is no one-year internship for those taking online classes. Let us tell you that the National Medical Commission has also made it clear that apart from this all other conditions will remain the same as stated in the public notice issued on December 7, 2023.

In the previous circular which was issued on June 7. The NMC has clarified in the notice that in the public notice dated June 07, 2024, the syllabus is for all students who have physically taken compensatory classes instead of online classes and subsequently cleared the MBBS equivalent examination in India.

They will be eligible for 1 year internship as directed in CRMI Regulations 2021. The commission further said that all other conditions will remain unchanged. This rule will also apply to students who have passed FMG examination equivalent to MBBS in India from any other country. Let us tell you that MBBS Internship is a 12 months training phase which is included as a compulsory part of 5.5 years Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).
