MBBS: Students of Motilal Nehru Medical College will get degrees from Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University from next year.

Students studying medicine at Motilal Nehru Medical College will get degrees from Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University from next year. This system will be applicable to MBBS batch students of 2025. Till now the students of the medical college used to get their degree from King George Medical University, Lucknow.

Acting Principal of the Medical College Dr. Vatsala Mishra said that two years ago the Medical College was affiliated to the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University. Currently exams are conducted from this university. But the final batch of medical college graduates in 2025 will receive medical degrees from the new Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University. Medical College students have been receiving degrees from King George’s Medical University since 2008. Along with MBBS, MS students will also get batch wise degrees from the new university.

The medical college offers admission to 200 MBBS seats every year. The internship and then the final degree are awarded by the university after four annual examinations. The Principal said that Motilal Nehru Medical College was earlier affiliated to King George Medical University. Many medical colleges in the state are affiliated to Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University. This will ensure an integrated system of medical curriculum and examination system. Spread over 101 acres, Motilal Nehru Medical College was established in 1961.
