New Delhi. The 26th match of T20 World Cup 2024 was played between West Indies and New Zealand (WI vs NZ). West Indies won by 13 runs in this match. At one point it seemed that the West Indies team would not even be able to cross the 100-run mark. But this did not happen. Shane Rutherford played a brilliant innings for West Indies and took the team’s score to 149 runs. After the match he said that even though I did not play IPL but I was busy preparing.
Speaking about his innings after the match, Sherfan Rutherford said, “I want to thank God for this opportunity. I was in IPL for two months. I was preparing even though I was not playing. But I was preparing for this in the World Cup. I wanted to take the match deeper, this was my plan. “Me and (Darren) Sammy talked about it.” Let us tell you that Sherfan Rutherford is part of KKR in IPL.

Rutherford added, “We talked about taking it deep and rotating the strike because I can return later. Looking at their bowling line-up, I knew they were two overs short and I was telling myself that I have to take this match till the end. I wanted to score more runs in the remaining overs. That was my plan and I think it worked well. I will have chicken curry tonight.”
Played an innings of 68 runs
Shane Rutherford played a brilliant innings for West Indies and took the team’s score to 149 runs. He played a brilliant innings of 68 runs off 39 balls. He hit 6 sixes and 2 fours during his innings. The strike rate was around 174. Apart from Rutherford, no West Indies player could cross the 20-run mark.
