Former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni may play his last match in the history of Indian Premier League i.e. IPL on May 18. On May 18, 2024, Chennai Super Kings will play their last league match of the current IPL season against the hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore. This match could be MS Dhoni’s last IPL league match. Perhaps this is the reason why he has reached Bengaluru with his wife Sakshi Dhoni and daughter Ziva. However, there is no official update regarding this yet.
In fact, MS Dhoni announced last year that IPL 2024 could be his last season in this league. Dhoni has been playing for CSK despite being injured and gave up the captaincy before the season. In such a scenario, it is believed that IPL 2024 could be his last season and if that happens, the match against RCB on May 18 could be Dhoni’s last season. This is the reason why Dhoni is going to play his farewell match in front of his family. For this reason he has called his wife and daughter.
If Chennai team loses the match against RCB on May 18 by a margin of more than 18 runs or RCB completes the run chase against them in 18.1 overs, the road to the playoffs will be closed for Chennai team. Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals have qualified for the playoffs. If SRH defeats Gujarat in the May 16 match, the RCB vs CSK match will be a knockout. If CSK lose the match they will be out of the tournament and thus this could be Dhoni’s last match.
