Indian star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has created history by winning a gold medal at the World Championships. In his second attempt at the final, he cleared 88.17 meters to win the medal. Neeraj Chopra’s first reaction after becoming the world champion has come out. Neeraj wanted to break the 90m mark in this championship, but was worried about getting injured again. However, he promised that he will try his best to cross this mark in the upcoming championships. Along with Neeraj, there were two other Indian DPs Manu and Kishore Jena in the final. Both these Indians failed to win a medal, but secured a spot in the top-6 along with Neeraj Chopra.
After winning this historic gold medal, Neeraj Chopra said, ‘Now what can I say, everyone was just saying this, this medal (gold in the world championship) was left, that too has been completed today. Just the 90m question remains to be answered, I thought it would happen today, but the gold medal was more important. Now you have this. There is more competition now, we will emphasize them more if there is time.
Neeraj’s groin injury was on his mind during the throws due to which he could not give his 100 percent on the track. He said, ‘I thought the last throw would come out, the throw was consistent but there was a problem somewhere. I was thinking that I would do the first throw very well, but there was a technical problem. If the first throw doesn’t go well, it goes a little bit, then I pushed myself, I was thinking a little bit about the groin, I was going more carefully, I couldn’t go 100 percent speed. If the speed is not good then it is lacking. So I have to be fully fit and run 100 per cent in the run-up and give it my all. I have to do the same.
On the other hand, Neeraj Chopra gave a message to the people of India that, ‘I thank the people of India that you stay awake at night and support. Thank you so much. This medal is for all India. Became Olympic champion and now world champion. We can do anything, you all keep working hard in your respective fields and we have to make a name in the world.
