NEET examinee commits suicide in Rajasthan a day before exam: Police

On Sunday afternoon, the family took Manish’s body to his native village Lakhanpur for last rites.

An 18-year-old contestant committed suicide by hanging himself in his rented house in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur on Saturday night, a day before the NEET exam. Police gave this information on Sunday. Police said that late on Saturday night we received information that the NEET candidate had committed suicide by hanging. Manish Jat was staying at Randhir Singh’s house in Brajnagar Colony for the last 2 years. The landlord himself informed us. Manish’s body was kept in the mortuary.

A police officer said that the body was handed over to the relatives after the postmortem on Sunday. Manish’s father Harbhan Singh said his son had passed his 12th standard from Bharatpur’s Sant Kripal School in 2022.

He said, “He was a school topper and was preparing for NEET for the last two years. In 2023, Manish joined a coaching center in Bharatpur. This year he was preparing for NEET through online coaching.”

The helpless father said that he met his son two days ago and told him that there is no problem if he does not pass the exam. He said, “I told him to prepare more for nursing. Manish’s mother had spoken to him on phone a day ago on Friday. He didn’t seem bothered at all.”

On Sunday afternoon, the family took Manish’s body to his native village Lakhanpur for last rites.
