National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) director Dinesh Prasad Saklani has said that the council is not responsible for the NEET controversy. At the Regional Institute of Education, NCERT, Mysore, he said that the NCERT medical entrance exam is not at all responsible for the grace marks controversy of NEET UG. NCERT uploaded the final text books on its website four years ago in the year 2020 itself, there is no confusion in this regard. He said, ‘The updated NCERT books are available in both print and online formats from 2020 onwards. We don’t know why the questioners referred to books before 2020. ,

Let me tell you that this time Neat A record 67 candidates topped. All these students scored 720 marks out of 720 (99.997129 percentile) and all got rank 1. The rush of toppers and the sharp rise in cut-offs has increased the tension of students and parents regarding admission in medical colleges. Students scored more marks but lagged behind in ranks. NTA blamed NCERT books when there was an uproar across the country. NTA said that the number of toppers has increased due to changes in NCERT books. Marks of 44 candidates increased from 715 to 720 due to two answers to one question in Physics.

NTA said that Neat In the exam there was a question on atom in chemistry. Students were asked to choose an answer from four options indicating which of the two statements given in the question is true. The controversy arose after the NTA raised objections to the provisional answer key after NCERT found two of the options given in its old and new books to be correct. If two answers are correct then these students got bonus marks. Now NCERT has said that its new books have been in the market for the past four years.

Saklani has dismissed the NTA’s claim that the NEET exam questions were out of syllabus. He also dismissed the opposition’s allegations that the NCERT text books would replace the word Bharat with the word Bharat.
