NEET UG 2024: NEET exam to be cancelled, Supreme Court to hear today

NEET UG 2024: Today the Supreme Court will hear three petitions challenging the results of the NEET exam and seeking re-conduct of the exam. The petitions have demanded that the NEET UG exam should be re-conducted as there have been irregularities in awarding grace marks. Applicants challenging the NEET results have also sought a ban on counselling. A vacation bench of Justices Vikram Seth and Sandeep Mehta is likely to hear the case at 10.30 am today. One of the three petitions has been filed by Physics Walla CEO Alakh Pandey. He has claimed that NTA’s decision to award grace marks is arbitrary. NTA suddenly declared the result with grace marks without informing the students. No prior notice was given in this regard. According to reports, Pandey has received complaints from around 20,000 students which show that around 1500 students have received grace marks ranging from 70 to 80 marks.

Another petition was filed by SIO members Abdullah Mohammad Faiz and Dr. Entered by Sheikh Roshan Mohiddin, in which Neat It has been demanded to withdraw the results of UG 2024 and conduct the examination afresh.

The petitioners accused the NTA of arbitrariness in awarding grace marks and said that it was impossible to get 718 and 719 marks out of 720. The NTA is alleged to have tried to give backdoor admission to some students through grace marks to waste time. The petitioners have expressed doubts as to how there can be 6 toppers from one centre. The petition has also sought a ban on NEET counseling till the probe into the paper leak is completed. A SIT has also been demanded to be constituted in this matter.

The third petition has been filed by NEET candidate Jaripiti Karthik, alleging that grace marks are awarded during the examination and the manner in which they are awarded.
