Amid the growing controversy over the NEET UG paper leak, the government is going to take a major step. According to the report, it is being considered to conduct the NEET UG exam in online mode from next year. It is known that till now NEET exam was conducted through pen and paper, asking MCQ type questions. But, in coming days, computer based exams like IIT, JEE Main or JEE Advanced can also be adopted for NEET UG.
About three high-level meetings were held in the past week regarding the NEET paper leak, in which various aspects of the matter were discussed in detail. On June 22, on behalf of the central government, former chairman of ISRO K. A 7 member panel was constituted under the chairmanship of Radhakrishnan. The committee was formed to recommend improvements in testing procedures and data security protocols and to review the structure and functioning of the NTA. It is noteworthy that in 2018, the then Education Minister Prakash Javadekar made a big statement in this matter. He said that from 2019 NEET will be conducted online and twice a year. However, the Education Ministry had to withdraw this decision after objections from the Health Ministry. But now sources are being quoted as saying that the online exam is now being seriously considered.
Preparation for rescheduling of NEET PG exam
At the same time, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) is preparing to reschedule the upcoming NEET PG exam. New dates in this regard may be announced on Monday or Tuesday. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the NBE will announce the new date for NEET-PG in the next two days. Indeed, there is much controversy regarding alleged malpractices in competitive examinations. Taking precautionary measures, the NEET-PG exams were also included in the canceled exams last week.
Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced new dates for the exams postponed due to the NEET controversy. The joint CSIR UGC-NET will now be conducted from July 25 to 27. At the same time, the postponed UGC NET exam will be held between August 21 to September 8. The major change this year is that these exams will be conducted in computer based test mode. In such a case, pen and paper will not be used this time. Let us tell you that the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) organized by NTA will be conducted on July 10.
