Neither Boycott nor South, These 10 Films Will Bring Back Bollywood’s Pride in 2023

Until a few months ago, the trend of boycott was seen against almost every Bollywood film. Among them were films including ‘Lal Singh Chadha’, ‘Brahmastra’, ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ and ‘Pathan’ which were targeted on social media. 2022 has not been a good year for Bollywood. After the Corona period, everything changed for cinema too. In such a situation, most of the films started releasing on OTT, even if the films hit the theaters, most of the films were either average or flops. Last year, only ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyya 2’ had strong collections. On one hand, Bollywood films were flopping, on the other hand, South films got tremendous response. After which it was also accepted that it is not easy for Bollywood to survive against the trend of boycott and South films. It has been 8 months to 2023, if we look at the report card so far, it seems that the pre-Corona era glory is back again. He has major roles in 10 films that hit the box office.

1. Pathan
First let’s talk about ‘Pathan’ which was released on January 25. There was a fierce boycott against the film starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. There was a controversy over the song of the film, but Shah Rukh Khan has such charisma that he did not do any negative campaigning before this film. People thronged the theaters and thus 2023 began in a grand manner. The film earned Rs 543 crore at the domestic box office.

2. You are a liar, I am a liar
Such a big film has not come in the month of February. On 8 March, Luv Ranjan’s film ‘Tu Juthi Mein Makkah’ was released in theatres. The fresh pairing of Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor was chosen on screen and the film grossed a total of Rs 149 crore.

3. Smt Chatterjee v Norway
The film, starring Rani Mukerji in the lead role, was released on March 17. The film is inspired by the true story of an Indian couple whose children were kidnapped by Norwegian authorities in 2011. This small budget film has received very good response overseas.

4. Kerala story
Made on a budget of 14-15 crores, ‘The Kerala Story’ will do so much that even the makers have not thought. Adah Sharma was in the lead role in this film. The film managed to collect 242.20 crores. ‘The Kerala Story’ was released on May 5.

5. A little bit, a little bit
Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan’s comedy drama film ‘Jara Hatke Jara Bachke’ was released on 2 June. It was directed by Laxman Utekar. The budget of the film is said to be around 40 crores. The film grossed over 115 crores worldwide.

6. True love story
Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani’s film ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’ was also a hit. The film was released on 29 June. It was directed by Sameer Vidwans. The film managed to earn 77.55 crores at the domestic box office.

7. Rocky and Rani’s love story
Directed by Karan Johar, the film is still playing in cinemas. The film has earned well overseas. The film has earned 150 crores in India and 158 crores abroad. ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ was released on 28 July.

8. Gadar 2
Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma starrer ‘Gadar 2’ is close to breaking the record of ‘Baahubali 2’. The film is just a few steps away from entering the 500 crore club. The film has a lot of time left before ‘Jawaan’ arrives. Also, Rakshabandhan holidays are sure to benefit.

9. OMG 2
Along with ‘Gadar 2’, ‘OMG 2’ releasing on August 11 is going strong. The film has already become a super hit. Akshay Kumar’s long-awaited hit has collected 135 crores.

10.Dream Girl 2
Ayushmann Khurrana’s film ‘Dream Girl 2’ has received good response. While ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘OMG 2’ are currently playing in theatres. As of Monday, the film has earned 46.13 crores.
