Nitish’s hope, BJP’s helplessness! What will be the new cabinet of Modi government?

The swearing-in ceremony of PM will be held at 6 pm on Sunday

New Delhi:

All preparations are underway at the Center for the formation of the NDA government under the leadership of the outgoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the kingmaker of this government, is confident that the old demand for proportional representation in the cabinet will be accepted this time. But there are questions whether he will get the desired ministry and special state status for Bihar. In fact, Nitish Kumar rejected the offer of only one seat in the Union Cabinet in 2019, and three years later his party severed ties with the BJP.

Long sitting at residence

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar spent the whole day on Thursday meeting new MPs and party leaders at his Delhi residence. Senior party leaders such as Rajeev Ranjan alias Lalan Singh who met him made it clear that they are unconditionally supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. According to experts, Nitish Kumar wants a common minimum program with allies like Atalji’s NDA government and at least a special state status for Bihar. Nitish knows that apart from seats in the three Cabinets, he will not get all the ministries of his choice but some like rural development or railways. Apart from this, the central government should reconsider the recruitment scheme in the army like Agniveer. However, on the demand for special category status, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman clarified that the provision has lapsed.

Speaking to reporters, senior party leader and Bihar minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary said on Wednesday, “JD(U) is in the NDA and will remain so. But there are some demands related to Bihar’s finances and economy which need to be addressed by the Centre,” Choudhary said. Said, “Bihar is managing its own finances. We are among the poorest states in the country. We (JD(U)) stand firm on our demand for special category status and special package for Bihar.
