The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) that it is not advisable to change the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 schedule at this late stage. The association also agreed to run as per the schedule. In such a situation, Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium will have to host two consecutive World Cup matches on October 9 and 10. The World Cup schedule has already changed. Had the HCA sought changes from the BCCI earlier, they would have been accepted.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Durga Prasad, a member of the team appointed by Supreme Court Administrator L Nageswara Rao, said, “We have discussed with the BCCI and they have indicated that schedule changes are not possible at this time. So, we have decided to cooperate.” Agreed.” The HCA officials had a lengthy discussion with BCCI acting CEO Hemang Amin on Monday regarding the arrangements for the games.

An HCA official said, “We understand that BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has already issued a statement. We have been informed that it is challenging to make last-minute changes and we will try to arrange the orderly execution of the matches. “We have spoken to City Police Commissioner and he has assured us of all help.” Hyderabad was assigned matches for the World Cup on October 9 and 10 and the HCA administration felt that the situation was not entirely ideal in terms of security preparedness.

New Zealand will face Netherlands on October 9 in Hyderabad while Pakistan and Sri Lanka will clash on the same ground the next day. Both the matches are day-night matches. Prasad said, “We had anticipated that Sri Lanka and Pakistan would want to practice at the Uppal Stadium itself, but this was not possible due to the schedule. However, we have been informed that practice facilities can be arranged at an alternative venue. “We have planned it. We will do it in the gymkhana grounds.”
