Many countries are trapped in China’s debt
CPAC is partly to blame for Pakistan’s dire economic crisis, which experts call the “Chinese debt trap”. Sri Lanka was also affected by China’s debt. Geopolitical experts have said that it was China’s Belt and Road Initiative in Sri Lanka that led to the downfall of the Sri Lankan government in June 2022 due to street protests over severe shortages of essential goods.
People say East India Company
Fabian Bossart of the prominent think-tank Center of Political and Foreign Affairs wrote in April 2022, “The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a symbol of the ‘Chinese East India Company’ colonization of Pakistan.” More than 40 countries are badly trapped and by promising to lift them out of poverty, the loan amount increases manifold and then it becomes difficult for these countries. Such countries include Laos, Zambia and Kyrgyzstan.
