New Delhi. Ever since the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2023 was announced last week, the non-selection of Yuzvendra Chahal has been the biggest talking point. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma jointly addressed a press conference in Delhi on 21 August, announcing the 17-member squad for the Asia Cup. Players like Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have returned from injury, while young batsman Tilak Verma has been included in the ODI squad for the first time. The pace bowling attack was strengthened by the return of Jasprit Bumrah and the popular Krishna, but the choice of spinners raised many questions.
The selection committee chose Kuldeep Yadav as the only wrist spinner in the team. All-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Akshar Patel were included to add depth to the batting line-up. That’s why Yuzvendra Chahal’s team of 17 players could not get a place in the combination. Many experts have questioned the team selection. While many say that the team selected by Agarkar & Co. is good. Former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria has also joined the discussion. He said that Chahal was rightly dropped as the wrist spinner is not fit to be in the team at this time.

In his latest YouTube video, Danish Kaneria said that Kuldeep Yadav has been much better than Yuzvendra Chahal in recent times and will be effective in the middle overs. Kaneria said, “Yuzvendra Chahal is not fit to be in Team India right now. He has been very inconsistent. Kuldeep Yadav, on the other hand, has taken wickets regularly and can prove effective in the middle overs. The selectors have taken the right decision by choosing Kuldeep instead of Chahal.

Kuldeep Yadav’s performance was excellent
Let it be known that Kuldeep Yadav has been in great form in the last 12 months. He has taken 22 wickets in 11 ODIs since January 2023. He will lead India’s spin department in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 Championship along with match winner Ravindra Jadeja.

India have been placed in Group A along with Pakistan and Nepal. The Indian cricket team will begin their campaign against Pakistan on September 2 before taking on Nepal on September 4. Both matches are to be played in Sri Lanka.
