Official explanation of Pakistan’s exit from the World Cup, PCB chairman knew everything

New Delhi. After the loss in the ICC T20 World Cup, the Pakistan cricket team is being criticized everywhere. From former cricketers to Pakistani officials are also expressing their views. All the news of disagreements in the team are coming out one after another. Former captain Shahid Afridi has questioned Babar Azam’s captaincy. A senior official even said that Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was aware of the rift among the team’s players.

A senior PCB official said chairman Mohsin Naqvi was well aware of the team’s problems even before the World Cup. His close friend and national selector Wahab Riaz informed him about this. He said, “Naqvi held two one-on-one meetings with all the players and asked them to focus on winning the World Cup instead of personal interests. He also promised to clear all the misunderstandings in the team after the World Cup, but that did not pan out.

The source said, “I’m not defending Babar, but what’s a captain to do when your leading bowler can’t even save 15 runs in the last over against a weak US team? Gives a four and six runs on a full toss. The returning all-rounder has to sit out the team due to fitness related issues.

A report revealed that the team was divided into three groups after Babar Azam was made the captain before the T20 World Cup. A team source told PTI, “There are three factions in the team, one is led by Babar Azam, the second is Afridi and the third is led by Rizwan. Amidst all this, the team’s situation worsened with the return of senior players like Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim.

He said that amid all this, the players’ agents and some ex-players running social media campaigns did something that should not have happened. Along with all this, the role of outside elements also increased the tension in the team.
