Om Birla was elected Lok Sabha Speaker by voice vote, PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi reached the seat

Om Birla became the Speaker of the Lok Sabha for the second time.

Om Birla has been elected as Lok Sabha Speaker for the second time. Birla was elected as the new Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha by voice vote. After which PM Modi and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi took him to the meeting. The opposition did not demand a split on the voice vote. PM Modi congratulated Om Birla on becoming Speaker of Lok Sabha for the second time. Om Birla, who became the MP from Kota for the third time, has created history by becoming the Speaker of the Lok Sabha for the second time. He is the third person to become the Speaker of the Lok Sabha for the second consecutive term. Before him, Balaram Jakhar was Speaker for 9 years, if Birla stays Speaker for 5 years it will be a record. No speaker for 10 years till now.

After Om Birla was elected as Lok Sabha Speaker, PM Modi said that we are confident that you will continue to guide us all for the next five years. Let us tell you that Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed Om Birla’s name for the post of Chairman, which was approved by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The motion was put to a vote in the House by Protem Speaker (Acting Speaker) Bhartrihari Mahtab and was approved by the House by voice vote. After this the Acting Speaker announced the election of Mahtab Birla as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. PM Modi and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju escorted Birla to the President’s chair. When Birla assumed the presidency, Modi, Rahul Gandhi and Rijiju congratulated and wished him well.
