Sunrisers Hyderabad booked their place in the final of IPL 2024 after defeating Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs on Friday. Led by Pat Cummins, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to win the second qualifier after losing the first qualifier. In the final, they will face Kolkata Knight Riders, who defeated Hyderabad by 8 wickets in the first qualifier. With the second qualifier win, Sunrisers Hyderabad became the fifth team to appear in the Indian Premier League final for the most times.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have reached the finals of the tournament for the third time. The team of Royal Challengers Bangalore has also played the final three times. Chennai Super Kings have played the most number of finals in the history of IPL. The team has reached the finals 10 times. The Mumbai Indians team has qualified for the finals 6 times. The Kolkata Knight Riders team has played in the final four times and won twice.

Chasing Sunrisers’ target of 176, the Royals could only manage 139 for seven despite a brilliant innings from Dhruv Jurrell (56 not out in 35 balls, seven fours, two sixes) and opener Yashwi Jaiswal (42). For Sunrisers, Shahbaz took three wickets for 23 runs while Abhishek took two wickets for 24 runs.

Earlier, Sunrisers scored 175 for nine thanks to a half-century from Klaassen (50 off 34 balls with four sixes). Klaasen also shared a 42-run partnership for the fourth wicket with opener Travis Head (34) and a 43-run partnership with Shahbaz (18) for the seventh wicket. Rahul Tripathi also played a useful innings (37).
Avesh Khan (three wickets for 27 runs) and Trent Boult (three wickets for 45 runs) took three wickets each for Royals while Sandeep Sharma (two wickets for 25 runs) took two wickets. The final will be played on this ground on Sunday.
