Pakistan cricket is in a strange crisis, unable to announce T20 World Cup squad, know what will happen now

New Delhi. Pakistan cricket is in a different kind of crisis, due to which it cannot even announce the squad. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has postponed the announcement of its World Cup squad till the end of May due to fitness and performance related issues of some players. A PCB source said that Pakistan will announce its T20 World Cup squad on May 23 or 24, which is the deadline set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for making changes to their squad without the permission of the World Cup Technical Committee.

Management and selectors are worried about minor injuries to Mohammad Rizwan, Azam Khan, Irfan Khan Niazi and Haris Rauf and will monitor their performances in Ireland and England.

The PCB selectors will announce the squad for the tour of Ireland and England on Thursday. The team management and selectors will assess the fitness and performance of the selected players before announcing the World Cup squad. So far India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand have announced their World Cup teams.

A PCB source said, ‘It (delay) does not matter as all these countries can change their entire squads by May 24. After that, changes based on fitness or injury may be allowed with the approval of the Technical Committee. “That’s why the PCB and the selectors have decided to wait until the first match in England,” he said.
