Pakistan’s former PM Imran Khan argued in the Supreme Court referring to Arvind Kejriwal

Imprisoned former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan complained to the Supreme Court about his misconduct and cited the example of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal being granted bail to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections in India. During his appearance on Thursday before a five-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa in a case related to amendments to the National Accountability Ordinance, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party chairman sought the removal of the prime minister. Prime Ministership in April 2022. Complaining of annoyance since it happened.

Justice Aminuddin Khan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel, Justice Athar Minalla and Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi are also included in the bench. Justice Minalla said it was unfortunate that Khan was in jail when he was the head of a big party with lakhs of supporters.

Khan (71) mentioned that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was released on bail by the Supreme Court during the general elections in India so that he could campaign for his party. But he (Khan) is facing atrocities in Pakistan where undeclared martial law has been imposed.

Khan complained that he was convicted within five days to keep him away from Pakistan’s general elections held on February 8. The former prime minister also expressed displeasure at the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s order, which rejected the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s request for ‘live streaming’ of the case.

Khan told the Chief Justice, “You wrote (in the judgement) that I tried to take political advantage during the last hearing. I don’t understand what political advantage I took.” To this, the Chief Justice said that the judge is not bound to explain the decision to anyone. “You can file a petition for review of the decision,” he said.

He asked the former prime minister to speak only on matters pending in court. Imran Khan said the Supreme Court should appoint a chairman for the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). “When the opposition and the government failed to reach a consensus on the name for the appointment of the chairman of the bureau, a third person is taking the decision and the anti-corruption body is working under this person,” he said.

On that Justice Minalla said, “Khan sir, there is no reason to declare the NAB reform illegal. Khan said he is facing a NAB inquiry and appealed for NAB reform.”

He requested the court to compare the facilities provided to him in jail with the facilities provided to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. However, Justice Mandokhel said that Nawaz Sharif is not currently in jail, “Do you want us to send him to jail?”
