Pat Cummins’ hat-trick: Former Australia captain Pat Cummins has taken hat-tricks in two consecutive matches in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 in America and West Indies. He took a hat-trick against Afghanistan in the 48th match of the T20 World Cup 2024 on Sunday. Earlier, the Australian fast bowler also achieved this feat against Bangladesh. Pat Cummins has entered the list of top-5 bowlers who have taken the most wickets in the ongoing tournament.
In the match against Afghanistan, Pat Cummins showed the way to the pavilion to the opposing captain Rashid Khan on the last ball of the 18th over. After this, Pat Cummins completed his hat-trick by dismissing Karim Janat and Gulabdin Naib off the first two balls of his next and last over of Afghanistan’s innings.
Pat Cummins became the first bowler to take two hat-tricks in T20 World Cup history. The first hat-trick in the T0 World Cup was taken by former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee. He achieved this feat against Bangladesh in Cape Town in 2007. Apart from Pat Cummins and Brett Lee, five other bowlers have also taken hat-trick wickets. Curtis Kaempfer, Wanindu Hasaranga and Kagiso Rabada have achieved hat-tricks in 2021, while Karthik Meiyappan and Joshua Little have achieved the feat in 2022.
Fast bowler Pat Cummins is the fourth bowler to take a hat-trick in T20 Internationals. Brett Lee, Ashton Agar and Nathan Ellis have already achieved this feat. Pat Cummins has already taken hat-trick twice in the ongoing tournament. Pat Cummins achieved this feat against Bangladesh and then against Afghanistan in the Super-8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024.
