Rajesh Khanna got released due to Kishore Kumar’s insistence, the song became a superhit due to uncle’s threat.

When Rajesh Khanna became stubborn

New Delhi:

Kishore Kumar has sung many super hit songs for Rajesh Khanna. There was a time when Kishore Kumar’s voice became Rajesh Khanna’s voice. Rajesh Khanna himself believed that Kishore Da’s voice also played a role in his stardom hit, which reinforced his romantic image. This was the reason why Rajesh Khanna chose Kishore Da’s voice to sing most of the songs. But Kishore Da himself refused to sing in the film. When Rajesh Khanna came to know about this, he moved everything to convince Kishore Kumar. Eventually Kishore Da had to agree and the song became a huge hit.

That’s why I refused

Kishore Kumar has sung almost all the songs in Rajesh Khanna’s films released in the seventies. The songs of that period were also huge hits. While casting Rajesh Khanna in the film, the makers knew that only Kishore Kumar would sing the songs and Kishore Kumar also knew that since the film was Rajesh Khanna’s, he would definitely get an opportunity to sing the songs. Both were great artists in their respective fields. Rajesh Khanna’s film ‘Dushman’ was released in the year 1972. There was one song in the film that Kishore Kumar flatly refused to sing. He said that this song would sound good in Mohammad Rafi’s voice, so he should sing it.

The song became a hit

When Rajesh Khanna came to know that Kishore Kumar had refused to sing the song, he came to explain it to him. At that time the music director of the song Laxmikant Pyarelal also reached there. When Kishore Kumar did not agree, Laxmikant Pyarelal said that he would remove the song from the film. Rajesh Khanna also repeated the same threat. Kishore Kumar then felt that it was better to give up his stubbornness than to keep making good songs. After which he agreed to sing the song. The song was ‘Vada Tera Vada’, which was a big hit even then and is still loved even today.
