Not even a month after the Pune Porsche accident case, another hit and run case involving a high profile person has come to light. In Chennai, the daughter of a Rajya Sabha MP allegedly drove her BMW into a man sleeping on the footpath. The person died due to injuries. The woman has also got bail in this case.
YSR Congress Party Rajya Sabha MP Bida Mastan Rao’s daughter Madhuri was driving the BMW. He allegedly drove his car into Surya, a 24-year-old painter, who was lying drunk on the footpath in Chennai’s Besant Nagar. He also had a friend with Madhuri.
Madhuri immediately fled the spot, while her friend got out of the car and started arguing with people gathered after the accident, officials said. However, after some time he also left there. Some people from the crowd took Surya to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
The marriage took place eight months ago
Surya got married eight months ago. His relatives and people of the colony reached J-5 Shastrinagar police station and demanded action. When the police examined the CCTV footage, they found that the car belonged to the BMR (Bida Mastan Rao) group and was registered in Puducherry. Madhuri was arrested, but got bail from the police station itself.
Rao will become Rajya Sabha MP in 2022. He has also been an MLA. Rao is the founder of BMR Group and the group is a well-known name in the seafood industry.
