Warning of low pressure area in Bay of Bengal

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of a low pressure area forming in south-west Bay of Bengal around May 22. “The low pressure area will help the monsoon advance over the Andaman Sea and the adjoining Bay of Bengal. However, it is too early to confirm whether it will turn into a cyclone,” IMD Director General Mruthunjay Mohapatra said. However, Skymet chairman GP Sharma said there is a high possibility of becoming a cyclone, but it is unlikely to hamper the progress of the monsoon. So no need to worry.
