Delhi Capitals Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly is in favor of continuing this rule in the IPL. However, he wants the team to decide its ‘impact’ player at the time of the toss. After the recently concluded IPL season, there was a lot of talk about the ‘Impact’ player rule as he scored more than 250 runs eight times in this phase.

Former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said that he wants the boundary of the ground to be increased further in the upcoming season of IPL. The former Indian captain said, ‘I like the impact player rule. The only thing I want in IPL is that the ground is made a little bigger. The boundary line should be slightly increased. Ganguly said during an event in Kolkata on Saturday, ‘This is a great tournament. The only thing you can do with the impact player rule is decide before the toss. Before the toss you will need to reveal the skill and strategy. But I am in favor of the impact player rule.

‘He’s still 23’
Prithvi Shaw’s performance this season of IPL has not been great but Ganguly says he is still young and learning the tricks of the shorter format. According to Sourav Ganguly, ‘He (Shaw) is too young. He is still 23 years old. He is still learning how to play T20 cricket. He is brilliantly talented and will only get better. Sometimes we start expecting too much from everyone and considering Prithvi’s skills I am confident that he will perform well.

‘I’ve always said he’s a special player’
Ganguly said that wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has started playing like before the car accident in 2022. He said, ‘He was brilliant for us (Delhi Capitals) in the IPL, so I am happy to see the way he bounced back. I have always said that he is a special player. Pant is returning to Team India for the first time since the road accident. He returned to the IPL after about 15 months.
