Rohit Sharma upset with IPL rules, former coach Shastri backed him

Chennai. The impact player rule has been the talk of the Indian Premier League this season. Indian team captain Rohit Sharma did not consider it appropriate. And many veterans criticized this rule. Now a different statement has come out regarding this. Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri has confirmed this. He has said that this makes for a close contest.

A rule that was implemented in the competition last season has become a topic of discussion this season. Some experts and current players say that this is killing the role of all-rounders. Shastri said, “Whenever there is a new rule, there will be people who will try to explain why it is not right. But over time, when you see the scores – 200 and 190 runs – and then some players made the most of that opportunity, people will start to rethink their thoughts about it.

Shastri supported the rule and said that the game should evolve with time. He said on India’s senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube channel, “The impact player (rule) is good. You have to evolve with time. This happens in other sports too. This has led to close matches. I think this is a good rule. You saw how close matches we saw in last year’s IPL. This has made a huge difference.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah recently said that this rule is not permanent. Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Delhi Capitals’ Akshar Patel and Mukesh Kumar have also expressed displeasure over the rule.
