The T20 World Cup will be played in West Indies and America from June 1. India’s first match is scheduled to be played on June 5.
Why did you drop KL Rahul?
On the question of not picking KL Rahul in the team, chief selector Ajit Agarkar said that KL is a great player. His performance for the team has been superb. But he batted higher in IPL, when Team India needed a keeper batsman who played in the middle order. Rishabh Pant plays at number 4-5. Sanju Samson is a batsman who can play anywhere up or down as needed. That is why Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson were preferred over KL Rahul.
Why 4 spinners in Team India?
In response to the question why 4 spinners were selected in the Indian team, Rohit Sharma said, ‘I can’t say everything right now. I won’t say too much because the opposing captain will be listening too. But it is certain that we wanted 4 spinners in the team. Matches will be held during the day in West Indies or America. This will increase the role of spinners. Then Rohit said, ‘When I hold the first press conference in West Indies, I will explain why 4 spinners have been selected.’ He also said that team India has 4 fast bowlers including Pandya. So the team is balanced.
