SA vs NED T20 WC 2024: Saturday saw yet another interesting match in the World T20. The African team managed to win the low scoring match between South Africa and Netherlands. Miller prevented another World Cup upset by hitting three fours and four sixes in his 51-ball unbeaten innings and a 65-run partnership with Tristan Stubbs (33) for the fifth wicket. After restricting the Netherlands to 103 for nine on a difficult batting track, South Africa achieved the target for the loss of six wickets with seven balls to spare to register their second win in two matches. South Africa lost four wickets for 12 runs in the fifth over and it looked as if the Dutch team, who beat them in the ODI World Cup last year, would cause another upset. However, after this Miller and Stubbs played cautiously to get the team out of trouble. Vivian Kingma and Logan van Beek bagged two each for the Netherlands while Bass de Leede took one wicket.
The Dutch team came out of trouble
Earlier, the Netherlands team was also in a very poor condition losing six wickets for 48 runs, but Sibrand Engelbrecht (40) and Van Beek (23) put on a partnership of 54 runs off 45 balls for the seventh wicket. Reached 100 runs. Engelbrecht hit two fours and a six in his 45-ball innings, while Van Beek hit three fours in his 22-ball innings. The Netherlands pressed on
While defending the target, Netherlands piled the pressure on South Africa by taking four wickets for 12 runs in the fifth over. Quinton de Kock was run out on the first ball without taking a strike. Van Beek dismissed Richa Hendricks (three) while Kingma guided Aidan Markram (nil) and Henrik Klaasen (four) to the pavilion. The team’s score in the Powerplay was 16 runs for four wickets. After this Miller and Stubbs batted cautiously and concentrated on saving the team’s wickets. Miller hit the team’s first four off Paul van Meekeren in the ninth over. He completed the team’s fifty with a six against Pringle in the 12th over. Stubbs, who had been batting cautiously from the other end until now, opened his arms in the 14th over by hitting a six and then a four off Van Beek against Vikramjit Singh, who came in to bowl.
Brilliant batting from Miller
South Africa needed 29 from the last five overs and McCarren bowled a madden over and De Leed dismissed Stubbs in the next over to end a brilliant partnership. Miller hit Van Beek for a six but the bowler kept the momentum going by bowling Jansen (three). Miller also completed his half-century against De Liede in the 19th over, hitting two sixes and a four to help the team win. Before this, the Dutch batsmen also found it difficult to score runs. Jansen dismissed Michael Levitt (0) in the first over. However, wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock also had a hand in this wicket.
